Tattoos

Some people think that tattoos are pointless. I think that if they mean something to you and you know that you wont regret it later then by all means go ahead and get a tattoo. I do find it silly when people get a tattoo that means absolutely nothing to them because then I feel like when they get older they will for sure regret it rather than having it as something that means a great deal to you.

  1. I have two co-workers that get tattoos because they want to ink their whole body. I find it repulsive because the human body, by itself, is beautiful. The way skin functions, and harbors everything underneath is just amazing and beautiful to me. However, one of my co-workers told me that after his mom died of cancer, he went downhill. He got into everything he shouldn't have, and it was only once he realized what he'd done that he tatted up his arm with an angel praying, and a line that i can't remember at the moment (not from the bible) that he changed, and will forever remember it. He does have other tattoos that mean nothing - just $13 ones from friday the 13th - but i still think he finds them significant to him because of what he wants: to ink everything. Now, if he will regret them, i have no idea. But i do know that one of them he never will; the one on his arm. And though i do think some tattoos are useless, and i do think some are important, i find that as long as its important to them, or makes them feel different or whatever feeling they get from it, then i think its okay for that person. Me? I'm way too scared of needles, end of story xD

  2. For me, I will never voluntarily get a tattoo.

I don't like the idea of wrecking your beautiful skin/body with cheap ink. I think you never know if you'll regret something. I mean, Karli brought up her example, but when that person looks back on it, they might decide that there were better ways to cope with their mother's death. When emotional things like that happen, you don't reason in the same way as you would if you had not faced a traumatic experience.

The question I have about tattoos is - what is your plan on getting a job? I mean, when somebody gets a neck/face/head tattoo, they're asking to be labeled a convict for the rest of their life, even if they are the person who cured cancer. From my experiences, tattoos are just a bad idea because the older generation (A.K.A. your future bosses) typically finds them to be signifiers of crime/criminal activity.

As for the inking your whole body idea, have fun working at Subway for the rest of your life.

However, I understand that it's art. I understand that those who live an artistic life want that to be part of them. My advice to those people - get your tattoo under your shirt (or pants). And lastly, as a man, I find some tattoos to be attractive, depending on where they're placed.
